I am lucky to meet an amazing variety of people in my sessions. Some are seeking a sense of peace and wellbeing and others are searching for clues to their ‘Soul Purpose’. There is always synchronicity in our meeting, which is magical and inspiring;
When Jaz visited the ‘Belgrave Creative Art Space’ exhibition in February this year, I had a feeling of ‘deja-vu’. A short time later she booked her first session and agreed to share her experience with you here;
While at my last visit to Samantha’s for a Sound Healing session, I was honoured to be asked by her to write something about my experiences that she could share with others for a blog.
I must admit, I stalled a teeny bit when she asked, as while I love to write, my writing is not something I always share so freely as such! However as I have discovered with time, you should take such things as opportunities to do something you mightn’t normally. Oh and Samantha is just too lovely and magical to refuse too!
I have always been interested in metaphysical and spiritual pursuits. I have dipped my toes in either learning about or experiencing a range of things including tarot/oracle readings, colour therapy, spiritual counselling and hypnosis and various energy healing techniques. I was also a practising Wiccan in my teens and early twenties and I continue to hold dear to my heart, a strong connection to the earth. I’ve also had great experiences with various forms of yoga, in particular, Kundalini, which I would say certainly opened my eyes to a deeper mind-body connection and made me understand why they call it the Mother of all Yoga. Even though I delved into these things with great abandon, sometimes I would come to a halt when I felt that it got a bit too complicated. Perhaps I over complicated it for myself too as we do live in the Information Age and metaphorically speaking I admit I may as well have ‘Dr Google’ on speed dial! But over time I learnt that developing spiritually needn’t always mean I had to look outside of myself for answers, that I also had to look within – actually, even more so. The desire to be constantly seeking answers from the next book, the next ‘guru’, the next ‘special method’ started to seem a bit futile to me and as it all got too noisy, I decided the best thing for me was to let most of it go.
After a few years of inner city working and living, my husband and I were visiting Belgrave one afternoon when I felt called to walk down an alleyway and into an art gallery that I didn’t actually know was there and had never seen before.I walked in and saw Samantha sitting there smiling. She was exhibiting her art and I felt an immediate sense of calm in her presence- her art stood out to me as feminine spiritual empowerment and it was exactly what I needed to see— bold, beautiful, unique and colourful.She wasn’t following the latest trends or fads in art, she was painting from her heart and it really struck a chord with me.
After a good chat, I discovered she offered and specialised in a therapy called ‘Sound Healing’ and I made sure I took one of her cards and pamphlets before I left. I knew I would definitely be in touch when the time was right! I actually made sure that time was as soon as possible. I booked in my first Sound Healing session and for the first time in a while, I was really ‘psyched’ to try this experience. What I loved when I arrived was that I was welcomed into such a special space, and instead of whisking me away into the treatment quickly, Samantha and I had a good chat and discovery time first. I can only talk from my personal experience with Sound Healing, as I am sure it is different for everyone. What I love most of all about it, is that it is not complicated. Obviously, Samantha has learnt and understood everything she needs to know to facilitate the experience, to understand the instruments and their history and power, but for me the recipient, I just lie back and enjoy the ride!
My first experience was very magical and mystical. I am a very imaginative person and perhaps this helped facilitate the journey that I went on. I was open to whatever I was to receive, but off to the side the sceptic in me was there, initially asking me whether what I was seeing was really real or not? It wasn’t long however, before that sceptic was quietly hushed and put aside so I could let myself go, enjoy it, and let the sound take me where it wanted. Each magical and fascinating sound that was presented to me guided me to another place, vibrated throughout my body, and I could tell a special type of healing was taking place that wasn’t only felt through the sound, but also via the special crystals chosen for me for the session and Samantha’s gentle guidance. By the end of my session, I felt an immense sense of peace and hope in the magic and the beauty of life, and I couldn’t wait to write down my visual journey on some paper Samantha provided once the session was over.
In subsequent sessions I have also experienced the same beauty and magic, although I have also had my eyes opened to what I feel are past-life experiences. I test this by going with the feelings in my gut about them. In all honesty, it has involved strong imagery, but I welcome that as it helps me discover more about who I am and where I have come from and I know I am always guided lovingly by Samantha throughout the session so I still have that sense of safety and care during my visual explorations. I don’t feel it is necessary to talk about the visions, feelings and emotions I personally experience during my sessions as I do not want to colour someone else’s experience or expectations, although I will say that the most heart felt moments during my sound healing sessions have been when I have seen beautiful big smiles from my ancestors and guides. Your experience will be entirely your own and special just for you.
I have finally found a special healing practice that involves me going within to discover and enjoy my own mystical spiritual journey, supported by beautiful sounds and Samantha’s loving guidance. From there I can choose to interpret it my way (and of course welcome Samantha’s suggestions to any queries I might have).
I wholeheartedly believe that we are each responsible for our own personal spiritual journeys through life, and sound healing is a great therapy to help you go deep within, relax completely and see what comes up for you during your sessions that might help you to further explore things about yourself. Or even just make you smile and marvel at the beauty and mystery you don’t always see… I would definitely recommend it!
