The shapes and colours in ‘Whale Tales’ hold the energy and ideas of a day at St. Andrew’s beach Rye, Melbourne Australia
Whale Tales Mandala – Acrylic
A year ago next month, we stood on a cold and windy St. Andrew’s beach in Rye and drummed a signal of unity far out into the ocean. ‘Whale Link’ day connected us to the energy of the whales using the language of sound.
A vibration of healing and love rippled beyond the breakers and resonated into the deep waters beyond the horizon. I like to think this sonic song of hope was a positive message of love and healing for a realm under siege from pollution and exploitation. Meditations earlier in the day set our intention to send healing energy to the oceanic realms and that experience flowed onto my canvas later that night.
A painting slowly evolved over the next three weeks. It was a blissful escape back to the beach where I visualised the whales and heard echoes of their song, the wind and sand. The energy of that day seeped into the colours and shapes and a beautiful sensation of wellbeing always lifted me as I worked on the canvas.
The painting evolves and transforms
‘Whales Tales’ was finally finished and hung on my studio wall for several months providing a focal point for meditations.
Visitors commented on it’s multi-dimensional quality and of feeling absorbed by the geometry, similar to a ‘Magic Eye’ experience where you shift your gaze into the distance. Within the brush strokes there is a language of light that can trigger memories and ancient codes. It creates a feeling of “coming home” for some people that transcends words.
In February this year, the painting formed part of the ‘Virtues’ exhibition at ‘Belgrave Create Space’ in the Dandenong Ranges, Melbourne Australia. Exhibiting my paintings for the first time and talking about the creative process behind them, I realised how they are linked with my sound and energy healing practice.
The frequency and resonance of the crystal singing and Tibetan bowls seem to open doorways to our soul.I love to share this process, inspiration and creativity with you and offer 1-1 sessions, Creative Circles in your own home and monthly workshops (send message here for more information.)
‘Whale Tales’ generated some interesting conversations with visitors passing through the gallery and I was thrilled to hear their comments of how the colours and shapes were mesmerizing and energising. The sound of the crystal bowls I played during the afternoon also generated interesting conversations and heart-felt responses.
It’s interesting how art and sound are inter-related, allowing us to slip easily into an altered state of mind.
On the final day of the exhibition, I was thrilled to sell ‘Whale Tales’ to a very dear friend. It now hangs in her home and shares it’s welcoming energy to everyone who visits.
I’m looking forward to the ‘Belgrave Creative Space’ ‘FROST exhibition on Winter Solistice 22nd June 2019 and creating paintings to exhibit for sale.
